Heritance at Ahungalla is one of those hotels that strives to make your stay memorable, and is not only professionally run but also run with a heart. The long gravel drive that approaches the entrance foyer remains impressive and culminates in a lotus pond that is unusually dotted with palm trees!
The staff is professional and friendly. It is this that sets the hotel apart from others on the coast and, combined with the support of the staff, makes for both top class hospitality and real heart. On arrival, the guest is presented with a flower and then led to the lounge area for a cool drink overlooking the vast pool and of course the sea behind it.
Trees grow inside and water falls from one level to another providing the soundtrack as you scale the stairs. The impressive main pool welcomes you as you enter the reception area – and then if you walk a little further down the beach you come across yet another vast pool, this time with a Jacuzzi for extra luxury and sloping easy access steps for young children to play on. The unique library has glass walls so that you can look from the reading room out to the sea which gives the beauty of tropical sands without the sticky closeness of the salty sea air!
Rooms A fruit basket could be seen in all the rooms, carefully cut and arranged with not one, not two, but three types of banana! All the facilities that you need are in the room, alongside little extra touches like candles in the bathroom, and a newspaper delivered to you first thing in the morning. Aside from that, the beds are large and extremely comfortable, and the interior is as striking and contemporary as the rest of the hotel.
Dining For dinner, you will be served from the night’s set menu by waiters who disconcertingly keep melting into the darkness around the kitchen before appearing again in the light when you needed them. The lighting in the hotel makes the guests feel that they have their own privacy.
